FAQs related to Offerings

  • What services do you provide?

I provide virtual outpatient counseling services for individuals, children, and families in Virginia.  I am passionate about supporting all members of the family through life’s transitions, from becoming new parents to childhood behavioral struggles to entering college to retirement and beyond.

Please feel free to contact me for a consultation to determine if telehealth therapy is right for you.

  • What are your hours?

The practice is open Monday through Friday 9 AM to 3PM. The office is closed evenings and weekends. Additional closings may occur around holidays and periodically for personal vacations or appointments.

  • How do I get started?

The best way to get started is by calling at 804-453-2166. Please also feel free to reach out by email at: sguiulfo@familiesinbloomcounseling.com

We can arrange a free phone consultation during which I can get a better idea of what you are seeking and you can ask me any questions you might have. Having a phone conversation helps us assess whether we might be a good fit working together, which is critical for successful therapy.

I look forward to talking with you!

  • How often / long can I see my therapist?

There are no specific limits on the frequency or duration of therapy.  However, most clients attend therapy weekly or biweekly, and can usually do so until they no longer need the services.  There may be times when crises arise and more frequent sessions are clinically necessary, and there are also instances when limits are placed by the client’s individual health insurance plan or scheduling availability.

  • Do you offer family therapy?

Yes, I have been trained in Structural Family Therapy and believe that many issues within the family can be appropriately addressed through family therapy. Please contact me for a consultation to determine if family therapy is right for you!

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions canceled within 24 hours of the start time will be charged a $50 late-cancellation fee.

In the event of a no-show or cancelation after the start time of a session, a $100 no-show fee will be charged to the card on file.

Please note: insurance does not cover or reimburse the cost of these charges.

FAQs related to Payment & Insurance

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept credit or debit cards, as well as HSA?FSA cards for private pay clients.

The practice does require a card on file to charge for any late cancellation or no-show fees when applicable.

If you would like to bill insurance, I will provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance network for out-of-network reimbursement based on your coverage.

  • What are your fees for self-pay?

    Individual Intake: $150

    Individual Session: $140

    Family Therapy Intake: $160

    Family Therapy Session: $150

**Sliding scale fees are available upon request.

  • Do you accept insurance?

My practice is in the process of credentialing with several insurance companies. Until then, the practice is solely self-pay. Payment is expected at time of service. I strongly recommend that you contact your insurance provider to verify out-of-network coverage, as I cannot guarantee the accuracy of our benefit check. Please note: Late cancellation and no-show fees are not covered by insurance and are solely your responsibility.

  • Do you accept Medicaid or Medicare?

At this time, I am working to credential with Medicaid. Until that time, I am not able to see clients with Medicaid, even on an out-of-pocket basis.

I am able to see clients with Medicare using self-pay, but because I am not in-network, Medicare will not reimburse you for any out-of-network services.
